Ekahau Site Survey - Wi-Fi Passive Survey, Napanee, Ontario, Canada

Written by Orion US | Aug 27, 2024 3:16:28 AM

On March 9th, 2021, We completed Wi-Fi passive surveys of 1 million square feet site Napanee, ON, Canada which include warehouse, pant, parking, and office area. We used Ekahau Site Survey Pro and Ekahau Sidekick to perform the wireless site survey. After a comprehensive survey, we found a few issues in wireless networking and its signals.

WLAN Finding

  • The Site currently relies heavily on 2.4GHz for wireless coverage. There are some coverage holes in the 2.4 GHz

  • The signal coverage of 5 GHz is significantly low in the entire site

Wireless Infrastructure:

  • Currently, infrastructure uses old and end-of-life devices (Access Points/Switches)

  • Insufficient number of Access Points to provide appropriate wireless coverage

  • Unable to identify all the locations of IDF and most of them poorly designed

  • Design guideline has not been followed for wiring and Access Point installation

Recommendations

  • The wireless network needs to be redesigned to meet current business requirements

  • The redesign should incorporate all the new industry standards of approved vendors and it should incorporate both Structured Cabling and Network Design

  • We strongly recommend a detailed Access Point on Stick (APoS) site survey to design and validate Wireless Network Infrastructure before any installation can take place
